Original art exhibition, talk show, and autograph session
"The World of Igarashi Daisuke"
The Kyoto International Manga Museum is organizing an exhibition of the original art of manga artist Igarashi Daisuke, laureate of the Japanese Cartoonists Association Award of Excellence for his work "Kaiju no kodomo" (Children of the sea), and of the Ministry of Culture Media Arts Festival Manga Category Award of Excellence for his work "Majo" (Witches).
On the first day of the exhibition, we are organizing an autograph session and talk show with Mr. Igarashi himself, and will also enjoy the company of Kimura Shunsuke, navigator of the NHK program NEWS WEB 24.
Please enjoy the unique world view and lush painting style of the famous World of Igarashi Daisuke.

Kimura Shunsuke, the navigator of NHK's NEWS WEB 24, will interview Igarashi Daisuke, and ask him about the depth of his oeuvre and about himself. *This talk show will be held in Japanese only |
How to participate |
No pre-registration required (on a first come basis, 200 seats) On the day of the event, we will distribute numbered tickets in the museum at 10 am. |
Part 2 Autograph session
Content | We are organizing an autograph session with Igarashi Daisuke in the open space of the entrance hall. All visitors to the museum can line up for an autograph. Mind that only visitors who bought a work by Igarashi at the museum shop on the day of event can have their books autographed. |

Igarashi Daisuke
b. 1969, Saitama prefecture. Manga artist.
b. 1969, Saitama prefecture. Manga artist. He debuted in 1993 in Montly Magazine Afternoon (Kodansha). In 2004 he won the 13th Ministry of Culture Media Arts Festival Manga Category Award of Excellence. In 2009, he won the 38th Japan Cartoonists Association Award of Excellence for "Kaiju no kodomo". His other representative works are "Hanashippanashi", "Sora tobi tamashii", and "Little forest". He has just brought out the woodblock print collection "Monsters and Souls".
When he was awarded the 13th Ministry of Culture Media Arts Manga Category Award of Excellence, he gave a talk at the museum.
Kimura Shunsuke
b. 1977, Tokyo. Interviewer
He attracted attention as a university student when he published "Henjin, Haniya Yutaka no shozo" (Weirdo, a portrait of Haniya Yutaka, Bungei shunshu). After writing interviews for the website "Hobo nikkan itoi shimbun", hosted by Itoi Shigesato, he started working freelance. He has interviewed a wide range of people, common citizens as well as authors and celebrities, and is able to evoke a view on the entire person in his work. His representative works are "Shigoto no hanashi" (Bunge shunshu) and "Monogatari ron" (Kodansha). At present, he is the navigator for NHK's NEWS WEB 24.
