The 9th International Comic Artist Conference will be occurring September 6th-7th. To go along with this event the Kyoto International Manga Museum presents an exhibition that introduces the situation of manga throughout Japan and the world, “The Summit of Manga.”
In recent years Japanese manga readership has spread out to many different cultures around the world and the word, "MANGA" has become a term internationally used. Because of the current rise in popularity of manga, interest in Japanese language and culture is also spreading.
Worldwide there are other types of manga- comics, bande dessinee, manhwa, …―that have different various expression techniques than Japanese manga. Different region’s culture also becomes apparent in its manga. When you read books from foreign regions and countries you can experience a new variety of culture that might pleasantly surprise you.
In this exhibit we also bring you facts about the number one works, works that are at the “summit” or peak of their kind, from each country and region. We have made a corner that will let you experience these works hands-on.
What is the longest running shonen manga serialization?!
What is the manga that has the most creators?!
What is the manga with the most characters?!
The answer awaits you at the museum!!
