Animation Weeks
As part of KYOTO Cross Media Experience 2010, which holds various events related to manga and other popular culture, we are holding "Animation Weeks." In our "Animation Weeks" screenings, we will show both domestic and international animation.
Over the course of three weeks, we will present two selections of animated works: "Art Animation in Germany ―The World of New German Animation," which includes Jochen Kuhn epic "Exit" and winners from this year's Oberhaus International Shorts Film Festival, among others; and "ICAF 2010," a compilation of current student's works recommended by animation professors.
Aided by advancements in CG that increase their potential for expression, artists are created many outstanding works. Please enjoy a glimpse of the future possibilities of animation.

Art Animation in Germany ―The World of New German Animation
Animation in Germany is progressing rapidly as artists incorporate new means of expression thanks to modern technology. What kind of advances are being made in Germany, a country known for its fast rate of development even among European nations? Curator Machiguchi Yumi, having lived in Germany for 16 years, carefully selected recent works for our A and B Programs, which we now present to you at the Manga Museum.

Program A: The World of Art Animation (about 90 minutes, including comments)
Master of art animation Jochen Kuhn's and other works will be screened, along with winners from this year's Oberhausen International Shorts Film Festival and last year's German Animation Film Festival.
Program B: The Variety and Talent of Young Artists (about 90 minutes, including comments)
We will screen work from currently active young artists who graduated of Baden-Wurttemberg, Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Offenbach Academy of Art and Design, Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Boddam College of Movies and Television. Selected works are from their student years.
Inter College Animation Festival 2010 (ICAF2010)
As an exclusive festival of students of animation, we will screen works recommended by head professors at institutions providing instruction in animation.
