Contents Industry and Regional Development - From the Danish animation staff training field
The Kyoto International Manga Museum and the KYOTO CMEX Executive Committee have invited Mr. Morten Thorning, establisher and general manager of TAW (The Animation Workshop), an animation staff training organization, and will hold a lecture on the training of animators and the regional development through contents industry in Denmark. There will also be a panel discussion with participants from Japan.

Established in 1989, in Viborg, on the peninsula Jutland in Denmark, the TAW is an organization that offers animation education, training for people in the field, and contents incubation.
At its inception it was privatized, but in 2003 it was nationalized under the umbrella of the CVU Midt-Vest (A university in the Western part of Denmark), and established a bachelor course. At present, it is part of VIA University College, which merged with CVU in 2007. Students attending the animation workshops to create,
come and go from TAW and the National Film School (Den Danske Filmskole) in Copenhagen.
Morten Thorning
Born in 1960. Representative of TAW, a Danish organization for animation staff training. He has been comparing animation from Europe with animation from the U.S. and Asia since 1989, and fulfills the role of training staff up to international levels of skill, while creating a network for animation education in Europe. He is also a huge fan of Osamu Tezuka.
Maeda Tsuneo
Born in 1946. Animation director. Professor at Kyoto Seika University Faculty of Manga. After working for Group TAC, he became one of the members that established Satelight in 1994. He was the CG director for works like Metropolis, Arashi no yoru ni, and Yona Yona Penguin. He directed Hashire shiroi okami.
Ito Hiromi
Representative of Office H. She coordinates business with foreign studios, and introduces the media situatior in different locations. She has connections with film schools and independent studios in Europe, and oversees the distribution and rights management of short films in Europe and Canada. Since 1999, she has participated annually in the world's largest animation festival, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
