This summer vacation, let's study manga at the Manga Museum!
MM Summer School: Let's study manga
This summer, the Kyoto international manga museum is organizing the event "MM Summer School", where children and their parents can learn about and experience manga.
There is a quiz rally to get to know manga culture, and the researchers working at the museum will give lectures, using the museum to its fullest capacity, there is a lot of fun with manga to be had for the entire family!

A tour of the musum; "Let's become MM grand masters!"
A quiz rally to learn about manga
Based on hints hidden throughout the museum, we will hold a workshop in the form of quiz rally. There are four courses: the Kyoto course, the International course, the Manga course, and the Museum course, and you can learn about the history of Kyoto and the museum, and about manga culture. It will help you get the most out of your summer vacation!

Museum Executive Director Yoro Takeshi's Summer School of Entomology for children and parents
Director Yoro, who is an anatomist, is also well-versed in entomology and will tell you how to have fun learning about insects, how to preserve specimens and much more. (Pre-registration required)

Special Researcher Lectures
Let's become manga Phds!
At the manga museum, there are several people who study manga to make a living. Even in Japan, it is very rare for a research facility to have researchers present who study manga. These manga professionals will hold special lectures for families during summer vacation!

Special Summer MM Workshop 2012
Let's draw manga!
~ This summer, let's draw lots of manga! ~
Children interested in manga, and anyone who wants to become a manga artists can experience how to create manga. For the 6th year in a row, professional manga artists will teach you how during these special workshops. (Extra fee and pre-registration required)

This summer vacation (between 7/12 and 8/26),
the research reading room on the third floor will also be accessible to people under eighteen.
(Open on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, between 10am - 1:15pm, and 1:30pm - 4:45 pm)

Nostalgic Toys from the Showa Period Exhibition
With the support of the Kyoto Tin Toy Museum, we exhibit nostalgic toys throughout the museum, so mom and dad too can remember the days when they were children!

Manga Park
The famous manga museum lawn, where you can read manga while lying down comfortably, is now available inside the cool museum! There is a corner where you can take a picture that looks as if you're in a manga panel, and there is another one where you can draw graffiti to your heart's content!

Kaidan (scary story) Performance event!
The Hyakumonogatari Palace
The students of Prof. Tsutsumi from Kyoto Seika University Faculty of Humanities will perform stories from the Hyakumonogatari in this old school building. Are you brave enough to come?

The theme song of that anime live!
Kyoto Kitayama Brass Band Performance
An anime song concert performed by the Kyoto Kitayama Brass Band. Please enjoy the live sound of these songs, completely different from the way you usually listen to them, through the speakers of TV or at the movie theatre.

There are more projects where there is fun for the whole family, like a corner where, during the same period as the museum's regular cosplay event, parents and children can enjoy cosplay together, fish goldfish, and eat takoyaki and okonomi yaki during the "Tatsuike MM Summer Festival".
