A world of beautiful artwork
from 'Eroica' to 'Falco'
From Eroica with Love, Sons of Eve, Royal Castle Alcazar, Brother Falco... from serious historical romances to action comedies studded with beautiful men, Yasuko Aoike is a ground breaking manga artist who has produced a diverse body of shojo (girls) manga. The Kyoto International Manga Museum presents an exhibition celebrating Aoike's 50th year as a manga artist in full appreciation of the world of beautiful artwork she has created. This is Aoike's first large-scale solo exhibition and will showcase over 300 original works of art.

Contents
Over 300 original artwork by Yasuko Aoike, displayed over two exhibition periods.
This exhibition will gather together artwork from Aoike's early works such as Sons of Eve, From Eroica with Love, Royal Castle Alcazar, El Alcon, and Brother Falco, etc.
* Additionally, issues of manga magazines which serialized her work and other related materials will be on display.

About Yasuko Aoike
Born in Yamaguchi prefecture in 1963, Yasuko Aoike debuted in Ribon magazine at the age of 15 with Goodbye Nanette (Sayonara Nanetto). Following her debut she focused on writing school story manga for Shojo Friend. Then in 1976 she broke new ground in the Akita Shoten magazine Monthly Princess with her masterpiece slapstick comedy, Sons of Eve (Ibu no musukotachi), a manga which featured prominent historical figures while parodying current day events of the time. That same year From Eroica with Love (Eroika yori ai o komete) began serialization, a serious yet comical spy action manga themed around male rivalry. It was a long-running hit. It was suspended part way through, but resumed in 1995, and continues to fascinate readers across generations. Aoike's manga Brother Falco (Shūdōshi Faruko) is currently being serialized in Princess Gold magazine. In December of 2014 her historical romance tale, Royal Castle Alcazar (Arukasaru ōjō), about King Don Pedro of the pre-Spanish kingdom of Castile, was adapted into a Takarazuka stage musical.
