From Hand to Hand

- Picture Book Authors' Messages for Children - Remembering 3.11 -

In this exhibition we show a collection of works gathered by Japanese picture book artists who asked their colleagues to draw an illustration based on the theme "Thinking about our future in a world after 3.11". After the project was started in Bologna, Italy, in March of 2012, travelling around five countries, many artists participated after another call in 2013. We are exhibiting original works drawn by 110 artists from seven countries, in which their message to the children of the future is conveyed. At the venue you can see not just the exhibited works (143 original illustrations and 9 reproductions), but also a corner with picture books by the exhibiting artists as well as the special item "The picture book artists' Guernica" (a collaborative live painting measuring 180 cm in height and 540 cm in width, by Hiroshi Abe, Koji Suzuki, Nana Furuya, Mariko Matsunari, Michael Sowa, and Peter Uchnar)
