Kyoto International Manga Museum

Katsuya Terada TEN
- 10 Year Retrospective -

The Kyoto International Manga Museum is honored to hold an exhibition of artwork by the manga artist and illustrator Katsuya Terada, featuring 300 color illustrations and background designs, including original artwork.

In the past ten years Terada has produced a vast and varied body of work which will be showcased in this exhibition, including manga, illustrations, as well as game and character design artwork. The exhibition is supplemented by a corner showing the creative originality of Terada's work with video footage of his work process.

This exhibition has been supervised by writer, editor, and game designer Gabin Ito as editor and exhibition director; and therefore can be enjoyed as an interwoven space celebrating them both.

Terada himself will make appearances at the museum during the exhibition period for related events such as live drawing. Experience the atmosphere of his creativity on-site.

Period	March 16 - June 30, 2013 10 am - 6 pm (Admission to the museum until 5:30 pm) *Closed days: Wednesdays (except 3/20 & 5/1), and 3/21(Thursday)

Exhibition contents	Colour illustrations and design graphics from the vast body of Terada's work in illustrations; games, anime, and book cover artwork. A total of 300 works will be exhibited, including original artwork. 1.) Manga manuscripts, illustration artwork, character design artwork etc. 2.) A slide show of Terada's work process. 3.) Related books. Total exhibition items approximately 300 works

A public talk between the supervising director of the exhibition Gabin Ito and Katsuya Terada himself while Terada draws digital artwork live on stage.

Speakers	Katsuya Terada （illustrator, manga artist） Tadahiro Uesugi（illustrator） Daisuke Tsutsumi（art director, illustrator） * He will be participating through a live video feed
Capacity	200 seats（on a first come basis）
Participation	Pre-registration is not required. We will distribute numbered tickets from 10 am inside the museum.

*We are featuring in the exhibition "SKETCHTRAVEL:Exhibiton" (March 7 - June 2).

After the event there is an autograph session.

It is limited to the first fifty participants to buy a copy of the illustrated collection "SKETCHTRAVEL" at the venue.
* Only the "SKETCHTRAVEL" volume will be autographed. Please refrain from bringing in other works.

Event 3: Artist Talk and Live Drawing Event (Analog Edition)
A live drawing performance

A live drawing performance by Terada in the exhibition gallery, in which he will draw directly onto a 900×1800mm panel with felt-tip pen without the use of rough sketching.

Date and time	May 5, 2013. 0 pm - 4 pm * There may be instances when the artist is not present, however the start and end times will be as scheduled above.

Event 4: Artist Talk and Live Drawing Event
Talking×Drawing - Travel Talks

Katsuya Terada and rakugo performer Hikoichi Hayashiya tell us tales of their travels together on the Silk Road in China and through Venezuela in South America while showing photos taken throughout their travels, interspersed with live drawing by Terada. We will also hear stories about Terada's work on Juugoya monogatari (Hayakawa Shobo. Story by Baku Yumemakura) during his travels in Venezuela.
