Nostalgic Toys from the Showa Period:
Everything Girls Want
Did you know that there is a Tin Toy & Doll Museum that is only a fifteen minute walk away from the Manga Museum? It is a museum where 3,000 selected items of a collection of over 15,000 holdings are displayed in a permanent exhibition; they were collected over a period of over thirty years by Director Takayama Toyoji.
With the cooperation of the Tin Toy & Doll Museum, we are now displaying toys from the sixties throughout the museum.
For this exhibition we have collected the things girls from the past thought were cute, and what they coveted and selected in a list of "Best 10" of what girls want, published after a reader poll in the shojo manga magazine Margaret, no. 11, 1966. Margaret celebrates its 50tieth Anniversary this year.
Please enjoy these cute toys, showcased in ten locations all over the museum.
