"Yuru kyara"are mascots created to represent communities from all over the country at events and local festivals, to promote their products. They are mainly known as life-sized costumes on staff. Their characteristics are their Japanese ness and the strong message inherent in their design, often making it possible to immediately identify what locality's products they are promoting. However, sometimes there are characters who need some explanation, because so many elements have been worked into them it becomes impossible to tell what they are meant to represent.

*This particular kind of mascot is called "Yuru kyara®", "Yuru kyara®" is trademarked by FUSOSHA Publishing Inc. and Miura Jun.
