All our condolences to Takahashi Macoto
On November 16, 2024, a manga artist and illustrator Takahashi Macoto passed away.
Takahashi Macoto was greatly helpful with various exhibitions and events at the manga museum since its start in 2006, including the Genga' (Dash) project of Kyoto Seika University International Manga Research Center.
In the exhibition "Takahashi Macoto Kobo-ten" in 2007, we held an event where visitors could see the process of his creation next to him. The moments of the beautiful illustration coming to life were witnessed by many people. The illustration drawn on the museum cafe wall at that time is one of our museum's treasures and it continues to surprise numerous people even now with the detailed strokes.
Also, in 2011, we reproduced an illustration of a wedding dress drawn by him into reality and organized a fashion show with the dress for the exhibition "Kyoto MaGiC (Kyoto Manga Girls Collection)". He was very content to see the wedding dress and satisfied with its quality.
With countless projects, he helped us a lot. Everyone who was involved in these projects remembers Takahashi's kind smile and gentle manner. Also, his sincere attitude to fans and his dedication to creating beautiful girl illustrations impressed us as well.
The works created by Takahashi influenced not only shojo manga, but also many different genres. We will continue to deliver his dedication to the world with Genga' (Dash) and his manga books even from now on.
We would like to express our sincere condolences and gratitude to him.
Thank you very much, Takahashi Macoto.
