About the publication of Dash: Original Manga Drawings in another form―20 Year Trajectory of Genga’ (Dash)―

The Genga’(Dash) project was started by Takemiya Keiko (manga artist), Kyoto Seika University International Manga Research Center and Kyoto International Manga Museum. The purpose of the project is to create an elaborate reproduction of original manga drawings, which can easily be faded and damaged, by a computerized fine color adjustment and printing. In 2011, to celebrate the project’s 10 year anniversary, a catalog called The World of Girls’ Comics ―Genga’ (Dash)’s Ten Year Trajectory― was published with works of 14 artists on it. This time, we published the second catalog Dash: Original Manga Drawings in another form―20 Year Trajectory of Genga’ (Dash)― to introduce works of another 14 artists who participated in the project since then, including some seinen (young adult) manga artists. It was the first time that we tried to make Genga’ (Dash) of seinen manga artists’ works.
As of April 2024, approximately 900 Genga’ (Dash) pieces by 28 manga artists have been produced and archived for the project. This catalog is a summary of the 20-year trajectory of the project. You can enjoy some of the artists’ works that have been made as Genga’ (Dash) on the color pages.
This catalog is available at the museum shop. Please take a look at them when you visit the manga museum.
