It’s a single word, but there are various ways to perform in Japan. Outside of Japan, there are many ways to tell something with pictures and talks, which might not be called “Kamishibai”.
Reading picture books can be one way.
Even the story is the same, it’s a story which your father or, and, your mother read for you.
Sitting on lap to listen to picture-book stories is somehow warm and tender.
Kamishibai is face-to-face, so that may be not a good way, but it’s possible to talk more.
Our Kamishibai might be very different from many other Kamishibai performers.
At any moment, teachers at kindergartens and preschools become Kamishibai performers.
That teacher, of course, had childhood days, and had their heart bouncing with somebody telling story for them in child.
If the bouncing heart at that time remains somewhere, anybody’s Kamishibai must be fantastic.
Not only children, your father and mother were children, and your grandfather and grandmother were also children.
Their childhood mind must have been filled with joy and excitement once, so when childhood mind come to them, they would know children’s feeling.
In addition, here in Kyoto, people come from overseas.
How to talk without words.
Should they sit on our laps? That’s too hard, but there must be some other ways to tell.
There are stories we heard in childhood before or about to go to sleep.
The warm time with family.
Invited neighbors and surrounded a large fire under the sky full of stars.
Not just one, but all new people get together for making a circle.
The story starts only after the circle is built.
We also want to listen to Kamishibai as well as to tell.
Come together and Whahhahha!!!!!
This is our Kamishibai.
